Who am I, you may be asking? Well, what would a first blog post be without an introduction? Let’s Meet Your Mid-Ohio Valley Real Estate Agent, Scott Benton!

Education Experience

I grew up in Vienna, West Virginia, and attended local schools including Neale Elementary, Jackson Junior High School, and Parkersburg High School before heading to West Virginia University. There, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Management Systems Engineering.

Why does that matter? Because I’ve always loved data, problem-solving, and process improvement. Those skills now help me guide clients through the sometimes-complex process of buying and selling real estate.

Personal Real Estate Experience

Right out of college, I made one of the best decisions of my life and married my wife. Since then, we’ve shared countless adventures, welcomed an amazing son and daughter, and bought and sold several homes along the way.

We’ve purchased homes both with and without real estate agents; bought as newlyweds and later as a family of four; and even sold a home while living overseas! Those experiences have given me a unique perspective on the home buying and selling process, and I understand the excitement, stress, and important decisions that come with it.

Career Experience

While I’m now a real estate agent, most of my professional career was spent outside the industry. I’ve worked for IBM as a Contract Manager, the FBI as a Program Analyst, NASA as a Risk Manager and Procurement Officer, and the U.S. Department of State as a Security Coordinator.

One of the most memorable chapters of our lives was living in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from 2021 to 2024. When our family returned to the United States, I found myself looking for a new challenge. A friend encouraged me to explore real estate, and it quickly became clear that it was the perfect fit.

Throughout my career, I’ve learned how to manage risk, negotiate contracts, analyze data, solve problems, and serve people. Today, as your Mid-Ohio Valley Real Estate Agent, I use those same skills to help buyers and sellers confidently navigate one of the biggest financial decisions they’ll ever make.
